Week 3 – More Emotion

I danced when I was younger.

I watch Dancing With The Stars (DWTS).  My inner dancer feels the moves the dancers make and I get lost in it. Dancing requires you to put your heart, soul, and mind into what you do; otherwise, you will not be able to communicate a feeling and a story through the dance.  It is living in the moment.  I love dance.

Each season DWTS asks the stars pick a memorable year to which a dance will be developed centered around the theme.  This may include the death of a parent, meeting a spouse, a challenge they have come through with a child, or something joyfully significant that happened in their life.  The stars open their hearts and don’t let fear or reluctance hold them back.  Each time that is the week’s topic, I wind up with a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes as each person talks about their most memorable year and then they dance it – with their whole heart.  There is so much emotion and it gets to me.

This week as I revise my DMP I want to take that honesty and heart to express myself.  We were told to add emotion rather than guard ourselves.  It’s a bit different to put that into the story I want my life to play out to be, but I think putting myself into an attitude that reminds me of  dance will help me apply myself.

Since the best way to live life is in the moment with our whole heart, then for me thinking of life as a dance brings another element into how I can perform daily.  Since I love dance, it helps me love each day more.

As we are learning in class, adopting this approach will take conscious effort at first, but after practice, it will become habit and we won’t have to think about it anymore.
