Week 11 – What things soever
Our Sit (meditation) this week:
What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Mark 11:24
I didn’t go into great detail, like morphology or tenses, but wanted to look into Mark 11:24 a little more in depth.
What things soever is listed as the Greek word “hosa.” It has varied translations in the New Testament (NT). It can mean as great as, how great, how much or simply – all or everything. Now from a Biblical sense we wouldn’t want to pray for something outside the realm of what God makes available or if something is against His will – like hurting someone. The Master Key and the Greatest Salesman and class have already taken care of that – we do what we do from love. Love just doesn’t wish anything bad on another person.
The word receive (there are two main ones in the NT) is lambano – to receive into manifestation. In other words, you see it or it comes to pass.
What’s the key?
Believe – we have to believe we can receive whatever we are praying for.
Here are a few definitions:
- To accept as true, genuine, or real
- To accept the word or evidence of
- Greek – from Pisteuo meaning to be committed to, to be persuaded, place confidence in, trust (believe to the extent of complete trust).
Basically, we have to believe in what we’re doing to make the changes we want in our lives. If we go through the process without trusting in the process, we will not see what we want to see. Marking off a checklist won’t do it. We have to believe in what we say we want and we have to believe that it will come to pass.
I have a card I framed. It says:
Life is a beautiful journey
We travel our own unique way,
With memories behind us
And dreams up ahead
And a brand-new beginning each day.
Dare to believe and enjoy your journey!
